What makes this different

Built by a performer who uses it on stage.

The combination of dense fog output and fully programmable lighting turns it into a self-contained performance element. It runs complex animations autonomously, or takes real-time control from any Art-Net software — exactly like any other professional fixture in your show.

At its core sits an ESP32 controller running custom EleVArts firmware, fully Art-Net and sACN compatible. Built-in animations are ready to run instantly, and you can record your own with the included ArtNet Recorder app. Load them onto the SD card and the cannon plays them completely standalone — no laptop, no WiFi, show-ready.

See it fire

Fog and light, in one shot.

A dense vortex ring lit by ~600 addressable LEDs, running a built-in animation. This is the effect straight from the SD card — no laptop, no console, show-ready.

Operating modes

Three ways to run it

Built-in animations

Rainbow, pulse, strobe, colour chase and more — stored in the firmware and reachable from the physical button. No SD card needed.

SD card playback

EleVArts animations made specifically for the Vortex Cannon, plus any custom sequence you record yourself. Build playlists and timers from the WebUI.

Art-Net Live

Real-time control over WiFi from any Art-Net or sACN software. Patch it like any professional fixture and drive it live during the show.

What's in the box

Everything except the cells

Included

  • Vortex Fog Cannon with programmable LEDs (~600 WS2812B)
  • ESP32 controller with pre-installed EleVArts firmware, built-in animations on the button
  • SD card with EleVArts animations made for the Vortex Cannon
  • ArtNet Recorder application for recording your own animations
  • Jinx mapping guide with ready-to-use config file
  • Resolume Arena mapping guide
  • Repair kit: spare WS2812B LEDs, glue sticks, wires, connectors

Not included

  • 18650 batteries — not eligible for international shipping
  • Fog machine — the cannon shapes and lights fog, it does not generate it

Optional add-ons

  • Spare ESP32 controller — recommended as backup for important shows
  • 18650 cell holder for a cleaner, more integrated mount

Batteries — read before ordering

The cannon runs on 4× Li-Ion 18650 cells with a minimum continuous discharge rating of 10A. Using cells rated below 10A continuous poses a serious risk of overheating and fire. Batteries are not included due to international shipping regulations.

Durability, shipping & support

What we tell you up front

LED wear is real

WS2812B LEDs were designed for static applications. Under vibration, repeated bending and frequent handling they can show early wear at flex points. That is inherent to flexible LED technology, not a manufacturing defect — which is exactly why a full repair kit and a video tutorial ship with every cannon.

Shipping & customs

Our workshop is in Bucharest, and delivery inside Bucharest is free. Elsewhere in Romania and abroad it ships tracked in a rigid foam-lined box, quoted per destination. For orders outside your country, customs duties and import VAT may apply on delivery and are the buyer's responsibility.

Frequently asked

Before you order

Does the cannon produce its own fog?

No. The Vortex Cannon is a stage effect, not a fog machine. The fog is supplied by your own fog machine, connected through the included hose. The cannon shapes and lights that fog into a vortex, synchronised with the LED animations.

Can I run it without a laptop?

Yes. Built-in firmware animations run straight from the physical button with no SD card. SD card animations — ours and any you record yourself — play back completely standalone, with playlists and timers configured once from the built-in web interface. No app to install, no WiFi needed during the show.

Which software can control it live?

Any Art-Net or sACN software: Resolume Arena, Jinx, Madrix, QLC+ and others. Ready-to-use mapping guides and config files for Resolume and Jinx are included, so you can patch it like any professional fixture.

Which batteries do I need?

Four Li-Ion 18650 cells with a minimum continuous discharge rating of 10A. Cells rated below that pose a serious risk of overheating and fire. Batteries are not shipped with the cannon because of international shipping regulations, so source them locally before your first show.

What happens if an LED fails?

You fix it on the spot. Every cannon ships with a repair kit containing spare WS2812B LEDs, adhesive, wires and connectors, plus a step-by-step guide for desoldering the dead LED and fitting a replacement. Technical support is unlimited and free for as long as you own the cannon.

How long does it take to build?

1.5 weeks — 10 business days — from confirmed order. Each unit is assembled, programmed and QA-tested by hand, so message us first to confirm current availability and any custom options.
